Standley Lake Engagement: Raza and Steve

Standley Lake Engagement: Do you ever meet someone for the first time and get a feeling that you have known them your whole life?  It’s a strange phenomenon to try to explain, but I swear the second I met Raza and Steve face to face at their engagement session that we photographed at Standley Lake, it was as if I was meeting up with long lost friends.  Given my career path, it’s pretty important for me to connect with people quickly and easily, but still, I am only human and it’s pretty normal to have a “warm-up” period when I first meet couples.  I would say a more normal scenario is to meet a couple and make small talk while we walk around and it’s generally closer to the end of the session that I’m feeling easy and comfortable about the connection.  But in this particular case, it was instantaneous.  These two had me at “hello.”

Perhaps that easy connection we all found is more about who Raza and Steve are and less about me, because as I got to know them it became clear that they got into each other’s hearts in very much the same fashion.  They met up for a “non-date” blind date at Panzano’s in downtown Denver after Raza had caught Steve’s eye at a conference at the hotel where Raza worked. He later connected with her on Linked-In and asked her out.  They spent 3 hours over lunch and great wine falling in love and they have been inseparable ever since.  They now go back to Panzano’s every six months or so to celebrate their anniversary.

These two love-birds eloped this past July in Hawaii and are having their wedding reception at the Infinite Monkey Theorem, a Denver Winery, this coming weekend.  My associate, Telly, will be their photographer for that event, as I was already booked for another wedding the same day.  It’s situations like this that continue to give me confidence that adding associate photographers to my team was a great decision!  Had I not had another option for them for their wedding reception, they likely would have gone elsewhere for their engagement photos and their wedding reception photography needs.

I am thrilled to know both Raza and Steve and am so happy that they found each other.  They are beyond darling, both as individuals and as a couple, and I know that we will continue to be friends for years and years to come.  Congratulations to you both on your recent marriage and I hope you have a blast this weekend!  THANK YOU for trusting my team and I with your photography during this incredibly special time in your life.  I look forward to our next photoshoot together in a couple of months. And for the record, anytime you want a third wheel to tag along on one of your dates, I’m your girl!

Going through all of the images from this session, it was nearly impossible to choose my favorites, but here are a small handful that I think best highlight their love, their light, and their personalities.  Happy Happy Happy. 🙂
