Peek-a-boo. I see you. You thought you could hide from me, but I caught the flirtatious wiggle of your tail as you bound across the forest. Your steps were so silent that this Denver outdoor boudoir photographer could barely keep up. Jumping streams, leading me through meadows awash with flowers, past the verdant embrace of trees, you scaled rocks with ease. You paused long enough to cast a coy look over your shoulder and taunt me with a provocative smile. Can my lens truly capture her image? Or is she merely a tantalizing flash of color, the whisper of a laugh blending into the brisk Colorado air? I want to immortalize you to a picture, a living, breathing memory of fleeting beauty to precious to forget. But you hear my thoughts as easily as you hear the click of my camera. Come out, come out, wherever you are. But you are to quick for me, too nimble. I give chase, but you recede like a mirage, a desert oasis where I want so badly to drink. And then, you jump onto a rock. You wait for me to catch up, and with another teasing wiggle of your tail, you vanish.
